Join the Winning Team: Volunteer with Johnstown FC and Make a Difference in Your Community!

Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community here in Johnstown? Do you have a passion for football and want to share it with the next generation? Then Johnstown Football Club needs you!

At Johnstown FC, we believe that every child deserves the chance to play and enjoy football. Playing football provides numerous benefits for young people, including improving physical fitness, teaching core principles of teamwork, communication, collaboration, and cooperation, instilling discipline and confidence, and developing social skills.

Our Challange

However, there are times when we are unable to provide football sessions or attend games due to a lack of volunteers. As a result, we have seen kids leave our club or even give up on the sport altogether. We are committed to finding ways to overcome this challenge and ensure that our young players always have the space and time they need to enjoy the game they love and improve.

That’s why we are looking for volunteers like you to join our team and help us support young people in our community. Volunteering for Johnstown Football is a rewarding experience that allows you to make a difference in the lives of young players while also developing your own skills and knowledge of the game.

Your Role

Your role as a volunteer may include coaching, training, managing equipment, and organizing games. Previous experience with football is helpful but not required. The Club will provide an induction pack to all new volunteers to familiarize them with Club rules, policies, and procedures. Volunteers who complete mandatory Garda Vetting and Child Welfare courses will receive a Johnstown Coach kit, including a training top and tracksuit.

Johnstown FC encourages volunteers to share ideas and expertise, and support the Club in any way possible. We also encourage and support our coaches in the FAI coach education process.

How to Join

Join our team and help provide a positive football experience for young players while developing your own skills and knowledge of the game. Please register your interest here: https://johnstownfc.ie/volunteers/. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that every child has the chance to enjoy the beautiful game of football.

We have a need at all levels but specifically with Dani and Stephen @ Under 11s and with Eric @ Under 13s

Johnstown FC’s big day out for FAI Cup Finals day

Johnstown FC had a great day today for FAI Cup finals day at the Aviva Stadium.

Johnstown FC was well represented on the day with a great contingent traveling up by bus to the games. We were also represented in an official capacity with players from the girl’s u13 team selected as ball girls for the Women’s final and players from the boy’s u13s and u11s team as ball boys for the Men’s final.

Up first was the women’s final contested by Wexford Youths vs Peamount Utd. Wexford Youths were 1 – 0 victors on the day completing the double.

Johnstown FC Girls with their coach Ger Horan.

Next up was the men’s final where Dundalk FC took on Cork City FC.  Dundalk were victorious at the final whistle and completed the league cup double with a 2-1 win over Cork City.

Former Johnstown FC player Dylan Connolly was part of the Dundalk FC winning team. Congratulations Dylan.

We had a helping hand from the wider Johnstown community providing some sustenance for the group, thanks to Smiths Supervalu and andysfunfood.com for providing snacks for the group and Dublin bus for the transport.

Days out like this are of huge benefit to the football club and help grow the sense of pride and community within the club. A huge thanks must go out to all parents and coaches that helped out on the day and made it so enjoyable. In particular, a huge debt of gratitude must be paid to John O’Brien who organised the day out from its inception.

Everyone had a very enjoyable day out and here’s to more in the future.

Johnstown FC are delighted to announce our new training and coach education partner EI Sports.

Post from EI Sports today:

Having met with the club we could see the passion the committee had to take the club forward from a Player Development & Coach Development perspective.

We will now be launching a New Club Academy program in the coming months to support Player development for ages 7 to 13. Having seen the growth in our own Academy program on Wednesdays in Navan with players from Johnstown FC and having had players on our trips over the past 2 years it is great to be bringing the program now directly into the club.

Further Developing the Club Nursery program to expand from 2011s to 2014s Boys & Girls.

Launch a new Coach Education Mentorship Program starting next week which will see a Coach the Coach program , supporting coaches with Session planning, new session ideas and enhancing the development opportunities for all the players in the club. This will include our very successful Junior Coach Mentorship program which will be launched shortly also.

We wish to Thank the Committee & Chairman Kevin for partnering up with us and we look forward to supporting the club in its Development Goals.

U11 Colm Cooper Cup Match v Kells

Johnstown U11 Red started the game very strong and went 3-0 up before half-time with 3 well taken goals, 2 coming from corners.  However they started the second half slowly and Kells pulled a goal back.  Johnstown should have had the game wrapped up soon after when the were awarded a penalty for handball but the spot kick was put over the bar.

Kells kept fighting and to their credit got the game back to 3-3 but with 2 minutes left Johnstown found the winner with a strong burst from midfield, to progress to the semi-finals.
